North Glos Combination Senior Cup Chosen Hill FP 47 Widden Old Boys 14

This was a classic “match of two halves” with Widden winning the first half 14-7 and Chosen easily taking the second by running in 42 unanswered points.
There was a strong wind blowing straight down the Brookfield Road slope and Widden had first use of these elements racing into a seven point lead after just two minutes when a miss-timed Chosen pass inside the visitors twenty two was intercepted and the Widden winger ran in from seventy metres for a converted try.
Chosen levelled after fifteen minutes when number eight Ryan Collier broke away for a try converted by outside half Andy King.
A second converted try after thirty five minutes gave Widden a 14-7 interval lead.
Chosen started the second half in a determined mood and winger Ed Higgs charged over for a try after just two minutes. King added the conversion to level the scores.
Minutes later Chosen prop Mike Darby crossed for his side’s third try with King again adding the extras.
Chosen were now in full command and a second try from Ryan Collier was quickly followed by further scores from centre Sean Kavanagh and winger Jamie Gamble. King landed two of the three conversions and was on target again when Flanker Tom Gyde went over for Chosen’s seventh try.
