After last week’s narrow defeat at Avonmouth, Chosen were looking to bounce straight back and they did so in style when, after just ninety seconds and playing down the Brookfield Road slope, centre Ryan Rennebach finished off a flowing backs move to cross for a try converted by number ten Andy King.
Ten minutes later Chosen scored again when winger Jamie Gamble went over for try number two with King again adding the extras.
Despite being fourteen points down, Saracens were right in the match, running the ball at every opportunity, but they could not break down the solid Chosen defence and on fifteen minutes, Chosen skipper and openside Tom Gyde charged over for try number three but King was off-target with the conversion.
With half time approaching Saracens finally got some points on the board when a prolonged attacking move ended with an unconverted try to make it 19-5 at the break.
Ten minutes into the second half Rennebach went over for his second try but King was unable to add the extras.
From then on Saracens, with the advantage of the slope, enjoyed the majority of procession and territory and they scored a second converted try after sixty five minutes to bring them within twelve points but despite the home side being down to fourteen men after Gyde was yellow carded Saracens could not score again and Chosen held on for their sixth league win of the season which keeps them in 3rd position.
There is now just one point separating the top three sides with Chew Valley on 33 points and Avonmouth Old Boys and Chosen Hill both on 32.
Next week Chosen travel to 5th placed Cheltenham for what promises to be an interesting encounter.
