On a bright and sunny afternoon Chosen had first use of the slope and they took the lead after twelve minutes when winger Ed Higgs squeezed over in the corner for a try converted by skipper Andy King.
Avonmouth responded after twenty minutes with a penalty goal from full back Andy Taylor and they moved to within one point of Chosen with an unconverted try from flanker Phil Dickinson who was driven over the line just before half time.
Chosen however had the last score of the half when King landed a penalty goal on forty minutes.
With the advantage of the slope, Avonmouth started the second half strongly and desperate defending saw Chosen flanker Kirk Lewis sent to the bin for going over the top at a ruck. Avonmouth ran the penalty and winger Billy Reynolds raced over for a try converted by Taylor
Chosen managed to hold out for the next eight minutes but were reduced to thirteen men when lock Dean Barnard was sent to the bin for handling in a ruck. Taylor landed the penalty goal to take his side eight points clear.
On sixty five minutes King charged over for a try under the posts and his conversion brought his side back to within a single point of the visitors.
The last ten minutes proved difficult for Chosen as first they lost winger Higgs to injury and then the conceded a soft try as missed tackles allowed full back Taylor to finish off a flowing backs move that had started inside his own twenty two. His conversion moved Avonmouth seven points ahead and with Chosen playing catch up rugby they conceded another try scored by Avonmouth flanker Niel Evans and converted by Taylor.
Next week, Chosen are again at home when they take on third placed Old Redcliffians with a 2.30 kick-off.
