Bristolians arrived at Brookfield Road with an unbeaten, top of the table, league position, so Chosen knew they would be in for a hard afternoon and so it proved, but some flashes of brilliance from their back division saw them run in six tries to record a fine victory.
An unfortunate neck injury to Chosen prop Dery Sowsman after just eight minutes meant that the match had to be moved to the adjacent pitch and after a fifteen minute delay play got under way again and it was Chosen who were first to score when full back Danny Davis ran a great line to charge over near the posts with number ten Andy King adding the conversion.
Two minutes later Chosen scored again when winger Jamie Gamble finished off a fine attacking move with an unconverted try and then centre Scott Claridge raced over for the first of his three tries after winger Tom Darby has carved open the Bristolians defence with a scintillating forty metre run. King added the extras for a nineteen point lead but then on the stroke of half time, Bristolians finally got points on the board with an unconverted try
Four minutes into the second half Chosen’s winger Darby crossed for the bonus point try which King converted and then Claridge landed his second try with King’s conversion putting his side into a 33-5 lead.
In this all-action match, played between two teams keen to play fifteen man rugby and excellently refereed by Gloucester & District Society ref Billy Fishwick, two quick converted tries from Bristolians gave them hope but then Claridge went over for his hat trick try with Kings conversion bringing up the 40 points.
A final converted try for the visitors gave them a four try bonus point which meant that they dropped to 3rd place in the league whilst Chosen moved up to fifth and also booked their place in the Gloucestershire Intermediate Cup Final.
Next week, Chosen travel to 12th placed Bristol Saracens for another league match.
