Playing up the slope and into the wind Chosen got off to a good start after careless play from the visitors handed full back Ashley Lewis two early penalty opportunities, both of which he successfully converted, but then, having run the coach journey out of their systems, the visitors, who had arrived in third place in the table, took control and in the next thirty minutes scored three tries, two of which were converted to take a 19- 6 lead into half time.
The second half was a different story as Chosen, now with the slope and wind in their favour took their turn to camp inside the visitors half and after a couple of tactical replacements which saw skipper Dean Barnard move into the front row and replacement Marc Riddel take his place in the second row, they scored under the posts after fine forward play enabled Riddel to dive over. Lewis converted to narrow the gap to six points.
With time running out it looked as though Burnham had just about managed to cling on for victory but one last effort from the Chosen forwards took play right to the visitors line and when Chosen were awarded a five metre scrum flanker Dan Probin managed to collect the ball and powered over for a try. Lewis, who had been in good form with the boot, landed the conversion to give his side the narrowest of victories and send the home supporters away happy.
Having started the season on minus five points, this win lifted Chosen off the bottom of the table and with more players becoming available as the season progresses confidence and spirits are both high at Brookfield Road.
Next week, having played just twice at home, Chosen travel to Wells for their fourth away match of the season.
