Chosen Hill travelled to Widden RFC who were entertaining touring side Huddersfield RFC for their final games of the season in glorious sunshine

Game 1 Chosen Hill 8 (3) vs Huddersfield A 6 (3)
1st Half - Billy Josh Louis (c) Ewan Dan Nathan Ben Lennon

In an end to end encounter with two contrasting styles, Chosen Hill attacking through their pacy backs whilst Huddersfield looked to attack through their large forwards, Chosen Hill eventually came out on top with two late scores.

Huddersfield started strongly but Chosen Hill's defence was up to the test and from one tackle debutant Nathan Lee managed to strip the ball away and Ben Pritchard, who was in fine form all day in both attack and defence, swept on to the loose ball in his own half to race away for a length of the pitch score.

Huddersfield replied with two quick tries before Louis Hammond, who led by example throughout whilst captaining the side, made a strong carry and managed to offload to the supporting Nathan Lee who powered over for the score.

Huddersfield again hit back to regain the lead but with halftime approaching Chosen Hill equalised when Danial Laverton somehow managed to emerge from the middle of a defensive maul with the ball and sprint away to tie the scores.

2nd Half - Fergus Josh Louis (c) AJ Dan Nathan Ben Kobe

The second period followed the same pattern as the first with both sides taking turns to score and it was Chosen who struck first when Daniel Laverton went on a wide arcing run and out paced the covering defence. Huddersfield responded with another score before Nathan Lee scored again straight from the kick off but Huddersfield again hit back to tie the scores at 5 all.

The game continued to ebb and flow before Nathan Lee scored a fantastic solo score in which he beat 4 defenders with sensational footwork before Huddersfield struck back to again tie the scores but directly from the restart Daniel Laverton scored and then added the final score of the game after a clever offload from Nathan Lee from a tap penalty

Game 2 Chosen Hill 9 (4) vs Huddersfield B 6 (3)
1st Half - Fergus Billy Louis (c) Ewan Dan Nathan Ben Harry

Chosen Hill were first to score after a big hit in defence by Ben Pritchard led to a turnover and Nathan Lee raced away to open the scoring but Huddersfield hit back before Nathan Lee scored again straight from the kick off.

Again Huddersfield responded with a try but Daniel Laverton quickly added a brace, the first scored straight from the kick off and the second following a show and go, but Huddersfield had the last word of the half with the final try to make the score 4-3.

2nd Half - Billy Josh Louis (c) AJ Ewan Lennon Kobe Harry

Chosen Hill started the second half with a bit of a purple patch and scored 3 quick tries without reply to extend their lead to 7-3; the first try was scored by Ewan Riddel who intercepted a stray pass close to the tryline before his halfback partner Alex Johnson sniped round the blindside of a ruck from close range for the second and the final try of this burst was scored by Ewan Riddel who set off on a weaving run inside his own half beating several defenders to touch down.

To their credit Huddersfield hit back with two tries of their own and could have added another had Alex Johnson not chased back and made a try saving tackle on his own try line. Following their reprieve Chosen went up the other end and following another strong carry from Louis Hammond Ewan Riddel was supporting on his shoulder to gratefully accept the offload before Huddersfield replied to make the score 8-6.

With time running out Chosen Hill had time to get the final score of the match when Billy Vaughan carried the ball half the length of the pitch busting through numerous tackles before unluckily being held up over the try, from the resulting scrum Ewan Riddel spotted a gap down the blindside to dive over in the corner for a final scoreline of 9-6.

It was a great team performance to finish the season with the supporters all very complimentary with their comments about the players.

The end of the season presentation evening is this Saturday the 10th of May starting at 5 o'clock
