Good start to season, work to do!!!

Chosen turned up at Coney Hill realising they had a hard game in front of them, especially after drawing the county cup final only to lose on try count.
Chosen started the strongest attacking the Coney Hill line only to be dragged back short. Coney hill were clearing their line with some long clearances. The attacks from these clearances were well defended by some great tackling from Nick Bates , George Tirel and a real cruncher from Mr Mullis!
Chosen were struggling to get clean lineout and scrummage ball but still made some good inroads into the Coney Hill, half one of them ending with Fin Willicote being tackled a meter short, after juggling with the ball behind his back, a sort of David Blaine without the glass cage! Our new player Josh Cannon played well launching some good attacking runs. At half time Chosen may have felt that they should have been in the lead.
The second half saw Coney Hill step up a gear and their forwards were starting to look more interested and aggressive in the rucks and mauls, their tackling was hard and dislodged the ball too many times. Coney Hill managed to attack gaining a 5 metre scrum and from this they wheeled, picked up and scored. Chosen were under some pressure now and were leaving gaps in the backs, but some heroic tackling from Elliott Creed and Fin Willicote snuffed out the attacks, eventually Chosens lack of urgency showed and Coney Hill moved the ball along the backs to score their second, which they converted to make it 12 – 0. Chosen made some changes and needed some time to let the new players settle, during this period Coney Hill attacked through the forward, and some missed tackles from the forwards forced the Chosen backs to cover leaving them short out wide and Coney Hill capitalised by throwing the ball wide for the winger to score, 17 – 0.
The third half?? Third ? 33.3% of the game saw Chosen changed a few more players, but it was a try saving tackle from the lion hearted Haydn that seemed to uplift Chosen as they launched an attack which ended in a penalty on the 5 meter line, they spread it wide for Luke Catchpole to score. It was nice to see Matt Mills returning and he’s been standing in a growbag!! He must have had somebody upset him as he came exploding out of a maul with the ball, set it beautifully for the backs who, after another Dan Robinson run, flicked the ball to Elliott, who put the burners on double turbo charge and raced to the line, the final whistle went, with a score of 17 – 12 , work to do but a good result.
