Old Cryptians 5 Chosen Hill 26

It was cold and windy day as Chosen, still licking their wounds from last week’s game, took to the field at Old Cyprians. Playing with the wind in their faces the first exchanges were mostly in Chosen’s half; it took a good tackle from Joey Mullis and some unforced errors by Crypts that kept them out. Chosen were being put under pressure from Crypts large centres, but it was Chosen who scored first from a well presented ball that Tim Rogers took full advantage of, sprinting through a gap passing to Elliott to finish the move off. The conversion was missed. The rest of the half saw Crypts with most of the possession but Chosen’s defence standing up well,
The second half was as uneventful, until Nick Bates spotted a gap and sprinted through what seemed a dense crowd to appear the other side and touch down between the posts. Elliott converted.
Chosen’s forwards were starting to take more control, and from a well executed lineout and a quick ruck Nick passed to Dan Robinson, who, after a juggling exhibition, managed to ground the ball, which was converted.
Crypts were not out of it by any means and were putting Chosen under constant pressure; it was a flowing move across the width of the field that saw their centre sprint in to score. The game was camped most of the time between the 22 ‘s and it wasn’t until Chosen were given a penalty, which Nick took quickly, that another try was scored, with another juggling exhibition by Dan Robbo Robinson, this made the score 5 - 26 to Chosen, that rather flattered them in a game that was a bit dull.
