Chosen find it easier with full complement.
It was like a spring morning as Chosen took on St Marys at Brookfield road, Chosen had almost a full complement of players this week which made life easier for Rich which should happen more often!!!!! Chosen put St Marys under pressure causing their fly half to kick the ball over Chosen’s back to Tim Rogers which could have been a mistake, as he proceeded to do 3 immense sidesteps, slide through a gap and accelerate to the line , 5 0.
Chosen were attacking through the backs well with a good runs from Fin McBride, but some unforced errors thwarted any scores for a while, until some good play ended with Elliott scoring and converting. St Marys were playing well but some strong tackling from Chosen stopped there forays and some turnovers were inevitable, it was from one of those that saw Elliott break and run almost the length of the field, but for a great tackle from the fullback that stopped him, but Dan was on his shoulder who took the ball and dived over. 17 – 0.
The next score came from a St Marys lineout which Chosen stole, which made a change as the line outs were probably in favour of St Marys, but some quick hands and an unorganised defence left Josh Cannon to shoot over in the corner, great conversion from Elliott.
From the kickoff Chris Richie made a good break, and from the ensuing ruck Nick Bates snuck around the blind side, timing a lovely pass to Josh to score again. Chosen made 4 changes at halftime, after a brief attack from St Marys, Elliot got the ball and just ghosted through their defence scoring between the posts, he converted.
St Marys still had ideas of their own and from a bad defensive kick St Marys fly half made them pay with a good score and great conversion.
St Marys never gave up and their supporters egging them on edging Chosen’s forward out of the game a bit, driving through a ruck to score their second, this woke up the Hill as they mounted an attack through the forwards and Nick Bates sniped one around the edge of a ruck, Mikey Graves who was everywhere stole another try and Josh got his hat trick right at the end.
Cup next week, things get harder from here!!! Training Thursday 6 p.m.
