Cardiff champions see off Chosens valiant effort.

Chosen Hill welcomed a side from Cornwall that got moved to Wales millions of years ago!!??( I got mixed up with Camelford) Anyway Cowbridge got lost on the way, these professional drivers using satnav!!! Our first time of playing them, but as we now have the power of the internet I Googled them, and that led me to believe they were a good side. We still have problems with injuries and only had 3 subs, but that’s better than other weeks!
Chosen played up the hill first half and it wasn’t long before pressure from the Cowbridge pack gave their big centre a chance for a break, which he took, touching down by the posts, which was converted.
Chosen were trying different moves but Cowbridge snubbed them out and with some aggressive rucking managed to steal a few balls but unforced errors broke down their moves. Chosen’s back row were playing well with Joey Mullis leading the charge, getting to the opposition and with support holding them up to gain the scrum.
Cowbridge always looked dangerous and after keeping the ball well for a few phases moved the ball across the field to a depleted defence to score and then land a great conversion. From the kick off Cowbridge caught the ball and a great running line saw their player scythe through the line of defence out sprinting everyone to score, this left Chosen a bit dejected at the end of the first half.
The second half saw Chosen battle well with our new player Luke Korba getting stuck in and enjoying his first game for the club. Chosen’s tackling got a bit better, but it was still a defensive game for them, and even worse Joey got injured and had to leave the field. Chosen re arranged and proceeded to battle on, but unfortunately a ball lost against the head gave Cowbridge back the chance to attack against a misaligned defence and a good back hand offload by the centre saw them score the first try of the second half, which was converted.
Despite some valiant efforts from Dan ‘the man’ Robinson, Elliott ’the speed’ Creed and some great tackling from Nick ‘ the *ick’ Bates.
Cowbridge scored a final try to make the score 0 – 31.
Chosen needed some more aggression in the forwards and more commitment from others, but Cowbridge are a good side and I hope we learned something from it!!
I would like to thank Jon for bringing the lads down to us and maybe a trip across that bridge wouldn’t do us any harm.
