Chosen Hill progressed into the third round of the RFU Intermediate Cup with a four try 29-15 victory over visiting Cirencester.

With the temperature up in the un-seasonal low twenties, the pitch in fine condition, and a large band of spectators on hand to cheer on their respective sides, everything was set for a fine match and so it proved to be, with both teams producing fully committed rugby for all of the eighty minutes.
Chosen, who have been in good form of late, had first use of the Brookfield Road slope and they opened the scoring after eight minutes when winger Tom Darby scorched over for a try converted by number ten Andy King.
Ten minutes later the home side scored again when flanker Benny Crocker finished off a flowing move in which centre Ryan Rennebach featured strongly. King converted for a 14-0 lead but on the half-hour Cirencester got their first points on the board with an unconverted try following a strong forward drive.
With half-time approaching Chosen went looking for a third try and it came courtesy of a fine solo effort from centre Scot Claridge who used his pace and body swerve to motor in from just inside his own half and touch down near the corner. King’s conversion attempt went wide but Chosen took a 19-5 lead into the interval.
A penalty goal from Cirencester on forty five minutes narrowed the gap, and when they scored and converted a try after sixty minutes the difference was down to just four points.
Chosen responded in the best possible way with a fine attack that was halted illegally near the Cirencester twenty-two and King made no mistake as he landed the resultant penalty goal which meant that the visitors would have to score twice to claim victory.
With five minutes to go Chosen sealed victory as replacement centre Ed Higgs caught the ball near the halfway line and charged forward before kicking a classic “up and under”, centre partner Claridge who was following up the kick, won the ball in the air and tapped it down to Higgs who accelerated away and touched down near the posts with King adding the conversion with what proved to be the last scoring opportunity of the match, Chosen's win means that they now face Avonmouth Old Boys in the next round as the Bristol side won their second round match against Stroud - also played today..
