CAMBORNE 19 CHOSEN HILL FP 16

For the second time this season, Chosen Hill made the long trek to South Cornwall and when they turned around 16-5 up at half-time, they were desperately hoping that they could hold on for a valuable away win, but in the end they had to be satisfied with a losing bonus point.
With first use of the wind and steep slope Chosen had their opening points on the board after just five minutes when outside half Jon Coles landed a long distance drop goal after his side had been awarded a penalty near the Camborne ten metre line and a quickly taken tap saw the ball shipped to Coles.
Chosen added more points courtesy of skipper and centre Andy King as he kicked two penalty goals and then converted his own try, scored when he hacked through a loose ball near the home twenty-two and won the race to touch down near the posts. Camborne scored an unconverted try to narrow the gap to eleven points at the break.
The second half turned out to be one in which Chosen’s defence was tested to the limit and it was only when they were reduced to thirteen men following two sin-binings, that the home side were finally able to break through, scoring eleven points via a try and two penalty goals to draw level with their visitors.
A penalty goal then eased Camborne in front but Chosen refused to give up and with injury time being played a series of pick and drives saw last weeks try scorer Ian Riddel just held up as he crossed the line for what would have been the winning score.
Having now got two of the long trips to Cornwall out of the way, Chosen are away again next week, but this time it will be a relatively short journey down the M5 to Clevedon.
