Camborne had first use of the Brookfield Road slope and after an evenly contested first thirty minutes Chosen lost scrum-half John Wand to the sin-bin allowing the visitor’s hooker Ben Priddy to exploit the extra man and charge over for a try converted by outside half David Mankee.
Five minutes later Camborne second row John Lamsin was sent to the sin-bin but as happened in last week’s match at Brixham, Chosen skipper Andy King’s penalty goal attempt hit the upright and bounced back into play allowing the visitors to clear the danger. With half time approaching and scrum-half Wand back on, Camborne had a second player sent to the sin-bin but Chosen were unable to make the two man advantage tell and half time arrived with the visitors leading 7-0.
With the slope now in their favour and with Camborne still down to fourteen men, Chosen drew level on forty five minutes when they worked the ball wide and then switched back inside for second row Rich Mountford to take the scoring pass and crash over with King adding the conversion.
Four minutes later the visitors re-took the lead when they kicked a penalty into the corner, won the line out and drove over for an unconverted try in the corner.
On sixty minutes the visitors were defending inside their own half when King intercepted a loose pass which nine times out of ten would have led to a try under the posts but as he juggled the ball he knocked on and the opportunity to retake the lead was lost. Worst was to follow for the home side as hooker Chris Dallard was sent to the bin but they managed to hold out for the whole ten minutes he was off the pitch and as the game entered the final five minutes the result could still have gone either way.
Camborne drove play up into the top right hand corner and camped there, launching wave after wave of forward drives and eventually the pressure told as they crashed over for a try, converted with the last kick of the game.
Next Saturday, Chosen have another home match, this time against Clevedon with a 2.30pm kick off.
