Chosen Hill continued their winning run with a wonderful nine try victory against visiting Wells that moved them up to 3rd place in Western Counties North.

Due to unavailability, Chosen fielded a side showing six changes from last week’s victory over Stroud but they stuck to their exciting game plan of running the ball at every opportunity and despite leading by just 5-3 at half-time they burst into life in the second half, running in eight more tries.
Wells had first use of the slope but it was Chosen who had most of the territory and possession in the opening minutes, however the visitors gradually came more into the match, and for all of thirty minutes it was them that dominated both possession and territory but great defence from Chosen held them out.
In such an exciting match it was strange that the first real scoring opportunity for either side did not occur until the thirty forth minute when Chosen were penalised near their twenty-two and the Wells kicker duly landed the goal for a three point lead.
Chosen responded immediately from the re-start when they gained possession and second row Dan Probin crashed over for a try. Scott Claridge, who was playing at ten in the absence of Andy King, was just off-target with the conversion attempt but his side took a two point lead into the second half.
Now with the slope and slight following wind in their favour, Chosen scored straight away as Claridge raced in for a try which he then converted. Two minutes later winger Matt Burrows crossed wide out for an unconverted try and then veteran number eight Ian Riddel went over for the bonus point try with Claridge’s conversion making the score 24-3.
Probin then forced his way over for his second unconverted try and five minutes later he crossed again for a hat trick with Claridge this time adding the extras.
Flanker Benny Crocker was next to score with Claridge converting and then centre Ed Higgs got on the score sheet with two late unconverted tries to take the score to 53-8.
Despite the score-line, Wells continued to play with ambition and enthusiasm and were duly rewarded with the last score of the match as they crossed for an unconverted try.
Next week Chosen travel to Bristol side Whitehall.
