A minutes applause in memory of Speedy Roberts and Dewi Edwards who both played for Cheltenham proceeded the kick-off of this re-arranged league match.
With this Saturday originally earmarked in the fixture list as a rest day, both teams had players unavailable and had to make changes to their line ups with Chosen missing Ian Riddel, and Adam and Scott Claridge from their normal starting side.
Chosen opened the scoring when outside half Andy King landed a penalty goal after twelve minutes but Cheltenham responded with a converted try from a penalty lineout which they drove over the line after thirty minutes.
Cheltenham were enjoying the majority of possession and territory with their heavier pack causing the visitors a few problems at the set piece but excellent defence kept Chosen in the match and they took the lead in spectacular fashion on the stroke of half time when King launched a huge kick down the left touch line from deep inside his own half. The ball bounced perfectly towards the try line and the Cheltenham defender, who was a metre or so in from the touch line was caught in two minds as to how to play it and whilst he dithered, King who together with winger James Wyllie was racing to follow up, kicked the ball from his grasp and dived over for the try but he was unable to add the extras.
The second half developed into a stalemate and Cheltenham secured victory with a late penalty goal being the only score of the half.
The result put Chosen into fourth place in the league with Cheltenham one place below them in fifth and next week Chosen have a home fixture against table toppers Chew Valley who have won eight of their nine matches to date.
