With Avonmouth Old Boys losing to Cheltenham and Keynshams match against Old Bristolians postponed, Chosen’s eleven try romp against Whitehall sent them back to the top of Western Counties North for the third time this season.
Chosen had first use of the Brookfield Road slope and they opened the scoring after just three minutes when number ten Andy King landed a penalty goal.
Three minutes later number eight Ian Riddel crashed over from a five metre penalty line out but King missed the conversion.
Although Whitehall were playing well they were unable to contain Chosen’s lively backs and winger Tom Darby raced through for Chosen try number two with King converting.
Whitehall then crossed for an unconverted try to bring the score to 15-5 but from then on it was basically all one way traffic as Chosen ran in in further tries from hooker Rob Panting, centre Ryan Rennebach, winger James Wyllie, and skipper and open-side Tom Gyde. King added three more conversions to bring the half time score to 41-5.
In the second half it took Chosen fifteen minutes to break down the stubborn Whitehall defence but when full back Adam Claridge crossed for try number seven it was the start of a twenty five minute purple patch in which Chosen ran in a further four tries from King himself, centre Scott Claridge, lock Dan Probin and his second row partner Dean Barnard, with King converting all four for a personal points tally of 24.
