Chosen won the toss and elected to play up the Brookfield Road slope and normally this would mean playing into any wind, but for this match the wind was in exactly the opposite direction to normal which meant it cancelled out any advantage Cirencester had of playing down the slope.
The home side opened the scoring after just four minutes when a great run by prop Henry Compton set up a try for centre Steve Merrick converted by outside half Andy King.
Ten minutes later Chosen added try number two from full back Ryan Rennebach, again converted by King. Next to score, on the half hour, was second row Dan Probin who finished off a fine forward drive with King adding the extras.
Nearly all the play continued to be in the Cirencester half and on one of the few occasions that they got into the Chosen twenty two they were quickly driven back deep into their own twenty two when the ball was turned over and King, assisted by the strong following wind, easily cleared their line.
The bonus point try for Chosen was scored by in-form scrum half Tom Knight with King again converting and Chosen’s fifth try came on the stroke of half time when winger James Wyllie crossed wide out but King was unable to add the extras so his side took a 33-0 lead into the second half.
Now with the wind advantage, Cirencester opened the second half strongly and on 50 minutes they finally got points on the board with an unconverted try near the corner.
Fifteen minutes later, Chosen winger Tom Darby crossed for try number six with King adding the conversion and this proved to be the final score of the match, so an indication of how the wind affected the result is given by the fact that the second half score was 7-5 in Chosen’s favour.
The result means that Chosen remain in third place in the table on 90 points with Chew Valley in second on 91 and Keynsham leading on 98 points with just three league matches remaining.
Chosen now turn their attention to Tuesday night’s Combination Cup match at home to Matson (6.00pm kick-off).
