The toll of playing four matches in just 11 days meant that Chosen fielded a team without six regular first team players and in a drab first half Coney Hill scored a push over try after ten minutes and Chosen replied with an Andy King penalty goal on the half-hour.
The second half was a different matter as the match came to light with five tries being scored.
On forty five minutes Coney Hill landed a converted try to lead 12-3 but three minutes later Chosen full back Ryan Rennebach charged over for a try converted by King for a 12-10 scoreline.
Coney Hill then restored their lead back to nine points with another converted try before Chosen winger Tom Darby ran in two tries in quick succession. King’s conversion attempts failed both times but with twelve minutes remaining Chosen now lead the match for the first time albeit by a single point.
On the stroke of full time King had the opportunity to extend the Chosen lead but his penalty goal attempt hit the upright and bounced back into play and the home side were able to clear to the half-way line.
Five minutes into extra time Coney Hill were awarded a penalty about thirty five metres out and as the ball sailed between the posts they were able to celebrate victory and gain revenge for their earlier league defeat at Brookfield Road.
