Ten tries were scored in this match but only two of them were scored playing down hill as an unusual north easterly wind negated the advantage normally provided by the slope.
Cheltenham had first use of the slope and spent the opening five minutes on the attack but solid Chosen defence kept them at bay and a breakaway by Chosen centre Myles Whittle set up winger Ed Higgs for the opening try converted by number ten Andy King.
Chosen’s second try came from King himself and he added the conversion for a 14-0 lead
Chosen were playing fifteen man rugby and the Cheltenham defence could do nothing to stop further tries from Whittle, flanker Tom Gyde and number eight Tom Harvey with King converting two of these three tries.
Cheltenham finally got points on the board with an unconverted try on the stroke of half time to make the score 33-5.
The good crowd were all expecting Chosen to run riot in the second half but three more tries and one conversion from Cheltenham took the score to 33 – 22 and all of a sudden it looked like a major upset could possibly be on the cards but Chosen hooker Rob Panting broke away from near halfway and sprinted to the line for his side’s sixth try. King was just sort with the conversion attempt but the 16 point margin was sufficient to give Chosen maximum points.
