The Yatton pitch was in fine condition and right from the kick-off both sides showed their intention to play fifteen man rugby with play going from end to end before Chosen opened the scoring after five minutes with a long range penalty goal from number ten Andy King.
Five minutes later they increased their lead to ten points when King made a fine break from inside his own half and fed flanker Tom Gyde who crossed near the posts for King to convert.
Further penalty goals from King on thirty and thirty five minutes gave Chosen a comfortable 16 – 0 half time lead.
Six minutes into the second half Chosen number eight Marc Riddel broke out of his twenty–two and great follow-up play from centres Matt Elston and Josh Pettifer set winger Ed Higgs up for an unconverted try in the corner.
Minutes later Chosen bagged their third try when flanker Ryan Collier was on hand to finish off a flowing move that involved both forwards and backs with King’s conversion extending the lead to 28 – 0.
With nearly thirty minutes remaining it looked odds-on that Chosen would conjure up a forth bonus point try and on several occasions they got right to the line but Yatton had other ideas, and despite being down to fourteen men after a sin-binning, some fine defending kept Chosen at bay.
Then, on seventy minutes, Yatton managed to break out of defence and good hands moved the ball to their pacey centre who raced in for a try under the posts which was duly converted.
A second converted Yatton try on the stroke of full-time added some respectability to the home score and was due reward for their efforts throughout the match.
Next week Chosen will welcome league leaders Weston Hornets to Brookfield Road with the match kicking off at 2.30pm.
