Playing their opening league match of the season in front of a good sized crowd Chosen Hill, who were fielding a young side containing three players making their debuts, ran in a try in each half to ease to victory over Bristol side St Marys Old Boys at Brookfield Road.
St Marys had first use of the slope and opened the scoring after just three minutes when centre Chris Tait landed a penalty goal after Chosen were adjudged to have not released following a tackle. Chosen responed almost immediately and drove play up field into the visitor's twenty two from where centre Andy King landed a penalty goal to draw his team level.
Twenty minutes later St Marys went back in front when Tait landed his second penalty goal and then Chosen lost debutant lock forward Dan Coleman to a head injury, to be replaced by flanker Mike Gardiner. With half time approaching the home side conjured up a magical try from centre Max Hough who finished off a flowing move involving forwards and backs to cross near the posts. King's conversion went in off the upright to give his side a 10-6 interval lead.
King increased his side's lead by three points with a penalty goal from near the touchline on fifty five minutes and on the hour he struck the killer blow when he intercepted a speculative St Marys pass and sprinted in from thirty metres to cross under the posts. His conversion gave his side a comfortable fourteen point margin and allowed them to bring on replacement second row Jamie Wilce who took over from Kirk Lewis.
King then sealed victory with his third penalty goal, which like his earlier conversion, hit the upright before bouncing in.
