Playing their second league match in Devon, Chosen were well in contention after seventy minutes but a last minute try sealed their fate at Brixham.

With centre Max Hough having to withdraw after picking up a injury during the warm-up, Chosen were forced into a last minute re-organisation of their back line and they soon found themselves six points down after home winger Matt Dempsey landed penalty goals after three and eight minutes.
Chosen responded with an Andy King penalty goal after twenty minutes but then Dempsey landed his third penalty to put the lead back at six points. Back came Chosen with a King penalty on thirty minutes but with half time approaching they lost winger Scott Claridge to the sin bin for a high tackle and Brixham seized on the opportunity to use their extra man, first by driving flanker Alun Glanvill over for a try from a five metre line out and then by working the ball to Dempsey who crossed wide out to give his side a 19-6 interval lead.
Disaster struck for Chosen within a minute of the re-start when a speculative chip over the home defence was seized on by Dempsey who sprinted nearly the length of the pitch for a second try.
Minutes later Chosen looked like they might score in a similar manner when winger Peter Sykes picked up a loose ball in his own twenty two but as he sprinted away the Brixham defence took chase and they caught him twenty metres from the line and the opportunity was lost.
King landed a penalty after fifty one minutes and then scored a classic interception try after seventy minutes. His conversion brought the score to 24-16 with all to play for.
Try as they did, Chosen were unable to break down a resolute Brixham defence and when, in injury time, they tried an ambitious break away from behind their own line they got into the Brixham half before loosing the ball in a turnover that resulted in centre Karl Browne finishing off a flowing backs move with a try near the posts. Brixham's Ben Lovell added the conversion with the final kick of the match
