Coming from 13 – 10 down, Chosen Hill completed a remarkable turnaround to run out worthy winners over visiting St Ives.

Knowing that a win was vital for their league survival hopes, Chosen Hill turned in one of their finest performances of the season as they came from behind to record a convincing win over visiting St Ives.

Playing up the slope and at real pace, Chosen got off to a dream start with a try from scrum half John Wand after just two minutes. Skipper Andy King converted and ten minutes later he added a penalty goal for a ten nil lead. St Ives had taken time to settle but soon showed their attacking prowess when scrum half Ashley Western and outside half Ian Morgan combined well to send winger Raphael Baragwanath scorching in under the posts for a try converted by Morgan.

On twenty five minutes St Ives drew level when Morgan struck a long range penalty goal and five minutes later he tried a penalty goal from halfway but fortunately for Chosen it drifted just wide and half time arrived with no further score.

Two minutes into the second half St Ives took the lead with a Morgan penalty goal, but that proved to be their final score of the afternoon as Chosen unleashed a series of blistering attacks that racked them up twenty seven unanswered points. First to score was skipper King who landed a penalty goal to draw his side level and then five minutes later he glided in under the posts and converted to put his side seven points in front.

On sixty five minutes quick ball from a ruck saw the ball shipped from number eight Marc Riddel to outside half Matt Elston and he sent centre Max Hough racing in near the posts for King to convert. Five minutes later Chosen scored try number four when flanker Tom Gyde picked up a loose ball near the half way line and put a neat chip through the St Ives defence for his fellow forwards to follow up. The ball was quickly worked to prop Tim Selway and he barged his way over with King adding the conversion. With injury time being played, King landed a further penalty goal to complete a remarkable second half performance from his team.

Chosen now have just one league match remaining when in two weeks time they travel to St Marys Old Boys in Bristol.
