Despite their lowly position Oldfield started brightly and, playing up the slope, their speedy backs opened the scoring after eight minutes with a converted try. Chosen responded five minutes later with the first of two tries from full back Scott Claridge but number ten Andy King missed the conversion.
A second converted try from Oldfield gave them a nine point lead but Chosen cut the deficit to just two points when winger Tom Darby crossed for a try converted by King and then on the twenty five minute mark they finally took the lead when flanker Rob Panting, who was in outstanding form, crossed for try number three converted by King.
King then crossed for and converted a try of his own after brother Mike, playing in the centre, had made a fine break.
As half time approached Chosen added two more tries, the first an unconverted effort in the corner from number eight Tom Gyde and the second from evergreen prop Dave Revell. King added the extras for a 38-14 interval lead.
Three minutes into the second half Gyde crossed for his second try converted by King but Oldfield hit straight back with a converted try to make the score 45-21. Claridge then dotted down his second try, again converted by King, and then Panting became the third Chosen player to bag a brace of tries as he crossed in the corner. King’s conversion attempt went wide as did another attempt two minutes later after replacement winger Ashley Lewis crossed in the right hand corner.
With twelve minutes of normal time remaining Chosen flanker Kirk Lewis was sin binned for a ruck offence and two minutes later he was joined in the bin by Panting.
Oldfield quickly capitalised on their two man advantage running in two tries, one of which was converted but Chosen had the final say as, back up to fifteen men, they combined well to send winger Dan Peacock over in the corner for their eleventh try.
The win and bonus point moved Chosen up to sixth place in the table with games in hand over the teams above them and next week they make the sort journey down the M5 for a match against eighth placed North Bristol.
