Played at the Prince of Wales Stadium, Chosen opened the scoring after ten minutes when number ten Andy King landed a penalty goal but Cheltenham responded almost immediately when they caught the visitors defence off-guard and ran in a converted try out wide.
Chosen regained the lead just before half-time when centre Marc Riddel powered over from twenty metres out and King’s conversion gave them a 13-7 interval lead.
Cheltenham were first to score in the second half with an unconverted try which gave them a one point advantage but Chosen soon re-took the lead when young winger Grant Panting crossed for an unconverted try.
A converted try from Cheltenham put them back in front by 21-18 but Chosen then scored the try of the match when replacement centre Oladele Ayodele caught the ball just inside the Cheltenham half and set off on a jinking run that ended with him powering through the home side’s last line of defence and dotting down. King added the conversion for a 25-21 lead.
Cheltenham, who were fielding a strong side, were in determined mood and an unconverted try put them back in front by a single point.
With the result still in doubt, both sides crossed the whitewash for what they thought were match winning tries but both were disallowed and it was left to Chosen number eight Josh Bailey to steal a four point victory when he scorched over for an unconverted try.
Next week Chosen have their final match of 2014 when they travel to bottom club Stothert & Pitt in Bath
