In their final match of 2014 a last minute try gave Chosen a four try bonus point victory that moved them up to third place in the WCN table
Back in mid-September Chosen defeated Stothert & Pitt by 46-18 at Brookfield Road and that victory, in their second league match of the season, put them in third place in the table before they took on Coney Hill in the following week’s match, so this second victory over the Bath based side was very much a case of history repeating itself as Chosen’s next match is the return fixture against top of the table Coney Hill.
With several regular players on last minute Christmas shopping duty, Chosen fielded a mixed side but it was regular number ten Andy King who got the scoring under way with a routine penalty goal after five minutes.
A try from full back Tom Darby converted by King increased the lead to ten points before Stotherts scored an unconverted try of their own to keep themselves in contention, but Chosen crossed the line again before half-time with the first of two tries from powerful centre Dele Ayodele converted by King taking the score to 17 -5 in their favour.
In the second half Chosen had to play up the slope and good home defence kept them at bay for a long period before flanker Tom Gyde finally crossed for their third try converted by King.
Chosen went searching for the bonus point try but the Stothert defence was in fine form and it was not until the final minute of the match that the visitors finally managed to cross the line with Ayodele charging over to touch down wide out for the unconverted try.
Chosen start 2015 with their home match against Coney Hill on Saturday 3rd Jan with a 2.15 scheduled kick off time.
