Having recorded their last league victory back in December against Stothert & Pitt, Chosen were keen to get their season back on track as they travelled to Bath to take on Avon, but at one stage it looked as though they were heading for a fifth successive defeat as they went behind by twelve points.
The first half saw Avon run in one unconverted try and land a penalty goal for an eight nil lead before Chosen responded with an Andy King penalty goal to leave his side trailing by five points at the break.
As the second half got under way heavy snow began to fall and the referee was considering abandoning the match because of poor vision but both teams wanted to play on and the weather eased off allowing the match to run its full course.
A converted try by Avon gave them an ominous 15-3 lead but then they lost a couple of players to the sin bin in quick succession and Chosen snatched the initiative when scrum half Rory Lamden ran in a neat try with King converting to narrow the gap to five points.
Chosen, with their confidence growing, went looking for a second try and it duly arrived as their forwards drove over the line from five metres out with skipper Tom Gyde getting the vital touchdown and Kings conversion sealing the victory.
The result meant that Chosen retained their sixth place in the league and next week they have a home match against Barton Hill with a 2.30 kick-off.
