Chosen Hill Under 9's County Cup Semi Final and Final
Venue: Chosen Hill
Date: 28th March 2010
Weather: Sunny
Chosen were drawn against Minchinhampton in the semi final of the County Cup, Minchinhampton won the toss and had first use of the ball, each half was 10 minutes long and Chosen didn't touch the ball for the first 6 minutes as Michinhampton attacked and recycled the ball well, but Chosen's defence was superb and twice made Minchinhampton retreat back to the half way line by persistant tackling after being on Chosen's try line. At the end of the first half Chosen scored what proved to be the match clinching try, the ball was won and fed to Rowan Mullis who ran from the half way line to score in the corner.
The second half was much like the first with Minchinhampton having much of the ball but not being able to break through Chosen's resilient defence.
Longlevens were sucessful in their semi final against Cheltenham who also came out second best to Minchinhampton in the 3rd & 4th place play off.
The final like Chosen's semi final was extremely physical and not for the faint hearted, it started well for Chosen Hill with Rowan Mullis scoring the opening try of the game, Chosen continued to tackle well but were 2 tries to 1 down at half time.
Longlevens scored a further try in the second half but it was a messy half of rugby with a lot of stoppages for penalties and injuries that meant that Chosen were unable to get their running game going.
Overall it was very good effort by the Chosen Hill team and to make the County Cup finals two years running, winning once and being runners up this year all bodes well for the future.
