Chosen outside-half Mark Yemm opened the scoring with a forty metre penalty goal after five minutes but there then followed twenty minutes of end to end rugby as both sides looked for an opening try, which eventually came when the Chosen backs worked the ball to winger Adam Morgan who raced over in the corner from thirty metres out. Yemm added the extras from the touch-line for a 10-0 lead.

With half-time approaching Chosen then produced the score of the match when they turned the ball over near their own line and ran out of defence. Forwards and backs linked superbly to send Morgan racing away from fifteen metres inside his own half, and he outstripped the desperate Tredworth defence to cross for his second try, again scored near the corner. Yemm repeated his earlier touch-line conversion and Chosen took a 17-0 lead into the break.

The second half mirrored the first with both sides showing attacking flair but strong defences were the order of the day and it was twenty five minutes into the half before Chosen finally broke the stalemate with their third try. Once again, forwards and backs combined well from inside their own half to send young centre Steve Merrick charging away on a powerful run that brought him a try wide out. Yemm missed the conversion with what proved to be the last scoring opportunity of a fine cup tie in which Tredworth will perhaps consider themselves a little unlucky not to record a single score after all their efforts.

Chosen's reward for this victory is a Home tie against Old Richians in the next round.
