Weather freezing as Chosen warm the crowd with a decent performance.

It was a freezing cold wind and sleety as Chosen took on Old Pats for a fixture we should have had ages ago! The conditions were wet and slippery.
Old Pats took to the field and drove well up front, with their bigger forwards driving through, Chosen missing a few tackles by going high, but still keeping them out!
Slowly Chosen made their way up the pitch, and from a well set ruck Nick Bates darted around the side to score, Elliott converted, with a drop kick!
Pats came back at Chosen and were camped on their line but stout defence by Dery Sausman and Joe Short kept them at bay until the mistake was made, under these conditions it was inevitable, from that mistake the ball was kicked clear, hacked on and the ever impressive Tim Rogers dived over for the second.
Chosen were now getting control of the game and slowly worked their way up the field , some good tactical kicking and excellent passing moves, which in the conditions were good to see, eventually the ball was on the 5 meter line with Joey Mullis in possession and after a few ‘push me pull you’ moves flopped over.
Pats were always in it but couldn’t finish any move off, mainly from the conditions; I saw a brass monkey with a welder!!! Yet again Chosen made their way slowly up the hill to gain a lineout on the 22, from the lineout Harry Jones sprinted off with the ball feeding it to his namesake the ever present, Roland Jones who scored.

Half Time 22-0
The second half Chosen made their usual changes; unfortunately the weather stayed the same! Old Pats always looked dangerous and had some really good players but the just couldn’t release them at the right moment, this was partly because Chosen were tackling a bit better and also maybe a few wrong options were taken.
Our new find, Luke Korba had a good run ably followed by James Gatter and the rest of the forwards, Some balls were turned over by the counter rucking from Pats but their touch kick was poor and Chosen had the line out on the 22, this was a shambles but Chosen ended up with it and moved the ball along the line for Dan Robinson to run for his life across the pitch to touchdown for his first. Elliot converted.
Chosen were playing with confidence and it wasn’t long before a surprisingly quick Harry Jones scampered over on the blind side.
Old Pats put a great effort in and unfortunately their driving forwards dropped the ball over the line, but were still pressing for a score, their disappointment was evident as Chosen cleared their lines again.
The final try for Chosen saw the ever present Mikey Graves pick a lovely line to slice through, what was now a demoralised defence to touch down and convert his try to signal the end of the game.
I feel we could have come unstuck had we let them in earlier, but we did keep our resolve and our shape.
