U15's make good progress.

The wind and driving rain signalled the end of summer as Chosen U15's hosted North Bristol at Brookfield Road. Bristol kicked off and applied early pressure and despite a strong chosen defence, Bristol crossed the line for their first try after 2 minutes.

This was a good start for Chosen as we are usually 3 tries down after 2 minutes!! 7 minutes of good defensive and attacking play from both team followed with both teams now fully aware that it was game on. A missed tackle from chosen and Bristol broke through and touched down for their second which was converted. The next try for Bristol didn't come until the 22nd minute, again a missed tackle, some fancy footwork and a run in for Bristol left Chosen trailing 19-0 at half time. Against a strong North Bristol team, being 19-0 down at half time was no disgrace when you are accustomed to being behind by that much within the first 5 minutes, strange as it sounds, things were actually looking promising.

Then the rain decided it wanted to play aswell!!

The second half started with the chosen forwards giving it everything, a monster tackle from Captain Edd Smith stopped a Bristol player in his tracks with the ball continuing on, Kangaroo Joe Rodgers stole the line outs and then decided that he wanted a run as well and took the ball deep into the Bristol 22. Despite the pressure, you cant miss tackles again this Bristol team and 2 of them were punished by tries, 31-0 to North Bristol.

With Chosen starting to remember their drills, they applied the pressure more and more and were eventually rewarded when Alex Broadbent plucked a long pass from out of the clouds and sprinted in trailed (closely) by 3 Bristol chasers. The conversion form Nick was good, 31-7.

Another missed tackle and in went Bristol again, 38-7.

Chosen clearly wanted to finish well and turned on the pressure, tight forward play, running penalties, fantastic team work and another penalty 10 metres from the Bristol line..... The ball was popped to Connor, the roar was heard and the Bristol players were left lying either side of his wake as the ball was touched down for Chosen's second, another successful conversion and 38-14 was the final score.

There is always room for improvement but this was a good all round performance from Chosen. Tries were given away trough missed tackles but there will be no talk of the tackling disease as that left the team last season, our time will come.

Good quality refereeing and a good spirited game meant that Chosen today were plain and simply not the better team. Well done North Bristol.
