U15's step up to the mark at the UR7's Newbury tournament.

Following the receipt of several hard lessons in how to play 7's last season, CHFP U15's traveled to the UR7's championships at Newbury RFC with slightly higher expections this time round. The first game was an absolute belter with our boys narrowly missing out with a 21-19 loss, the second game saw chosen do "that CHFP U15 thing" where they forgot to turn up and went down to 4 or 5 unanswered tries. Following a hearty lunch, the boys stepped into the bowl semi final against a rather large looking Swindon team, some of who sported better facial hair than a couple of our parents. Thankfully our boys turned up to this one and the next 15 minutes saw some outstanding committment from both teams. The lead switched ways several times but the players and supporters on both sides were clearly there for the right reason as the game was a pleasure to watch. Even more so when the final whistle went and CHFP took the win.
So into the bowl final against brockworth, a barbarian team made up of players from the top team in the county and hucclecote, with most of the players being members of gloucester rugby academy. This should have been a walkover for brockworth and it was in a way. Once CHFP had won the battle of the scrum half's, the brockworth wingers showed their pedigree and ran in several unanswered tries. From that game we take away the fact that we ran in 3 tries against a team that we shouldn't have had a look in against. From the tournament we took away a whole lot of experience and new friends for future games. This was an extremely well run tournament by the UR7's and we look forward to the next one.
